It was a bleak Saturday morning in Manchester, Tennessee. Bonnaroovians were waking up (if they slept at all) to destroyed campsites, their cars covered and stuck in mud, and no festival to look forward to anymore. After driving hours (days for some) from all ends of the country, spending savings, coordinating with groups, and looking forward to sets from amazing artists all weekend, Mother Nature had her say, and the verdict was that Bonnaroo would not be happening.
For Saxsquatch, it was equally disappointing. Coming off a recent tour that included 27 sold-out shows and having two incredible sets planned at Bonnaroo, this was the weekend that he was going to kick off an amazing festival season on some of the biggest stages he's played so far. However, instead of sulking in the woods or hiding away in a cave, he made the most of the weekend, and with the help of Fantom Presents and Colt Classic Presents, he gave fans an epic night with a pop-up show at Garage Sale East that sold out within hours of him announcing. Also knowing what fans had endured with the festival being canceled, he and the promoters priced tickets at a fan friendly $10-$20. And in the daytime, he filmed a music video for his relaxing rendition of La Vie En Rose for his followers on YouTube.
So while not all of the hopes, dreams, and money that was put into Bonnaroo could be recovered, the Nashville community rallied together and with the presence of the viral Bigfoot, they gave music lovers a night to dance, meet people, and make the most of the weekend.
